On Thursday July 10, 2008 the Director General and Primary and General Director of Human Resources the Ministry of Education of the Community of Madrid, reported a group of directors representing Teams educational psychologists (EOEPs) the temporary suspension of the process of removal of such equipment.
Following the announcement of the Minister of Education Community of Madrid on June 4, the disappearance of the Guidance Team for next year, we began a process of dissemination to raise awareness of this situation through various media (newspapers, radio, TV, letters, Internet information meetings in schools, interviews with associations and other social ...) and a campaign to collect signatures and letters of support. During the past month and a half, have held several demonstrations, sit-ins, American wheels, assemblies etc. in which we have repeatedly denounced:
- The severity of this measure would be one more attack on education quality the Community of Madrid.
- significant impairment in relation to the focus on diversity in schools financed by public funds (special educational needs, social risk, immigration, emotional difficulties) and the teaching-learning processes.
- The lack of rigor in the process (without making a serious assessment of the work done by EOEPs without suggestions for improvement without increased investment in resources).
The mobilization process concluded last week with a day of work and reflection on the educational orientation held on 8 at the headquarters of the Assembly of Madrid (sponsored by the parliamentary groups of the PSOE and IU) and an informational meeting and a concentration in the Puerta del Sol to the seat of government of the Community of Madrid on Thursday, 10.
The group of professionals who work in teams Guidance Madrid want to thank all those who have supported us: the more than 20,000 signatures collected, parents, faculty of schools, school directors, associations, professional bodies, platforms, various professionals and institutions working in coordination with professional counseling for the media: press, radio and television, the parliamentary groups of the PSOE and IU and, of course, the unions (CCOO, UGT, and STEM CSIT-U) that have greatly facilitated and given legal coverage to the demonstrations.
After the summer holidays and throughout the next year began a period of reflection and study on improving the guidance should include, inter alia, a significant increase in staff to cater for the students, their families and centers, with the dedication they need. We understand that any process of change that the Administration considers education to be undertaken, must necessarily involve the participation of those involved in the educational community as a whole and of trade unions as representatives workers. The defense of a quality guidance we can not do alone, we need to work with those who want a quality public school, an inclusive school, a school for all and for all.
